Discussion List
At the May 1996 NANOG, Alan Hannan made a presentation
concerning Inter-Provider Notification. At that meeting, I volunteered to host
a list on which that discussion could continue.
Basically, the idea was to have some discussions about the current
mechanisms (like those available via IPMA and NLANR as well as the various
web pages and email lists maintained by the providers) and see what is
good or bad about them. From that, perhaps we could come up with some set
of basic standards that all of us could use to make outage
notifications. There was also the notion of setting up some kind of clearinghouse for such notifications. That what this web page is about.
You can join the discussion and read the list archives.
