Matthew Stevens sends his greetings and asked me to include this information: Mac users in Australia can find replacement batteries at their nearest authorised Apple dealer. The cost for an LC/Quadra 605 battery is about $15. Don't bother trying Dick Smith or Tandy - they don't have them. Neither does the Mac Zone. If you are in Sydney, you can also get them from GM Computers at 234 Sussex Street.

It sounds like there have been a lot of changes (in the news) about Macintosh dealers and those that service them, so please call ahead before depending on this information!

Turkey

The main distributor for Macs in Turkey is Bilkom, you can find links to battery distributors from their page: Bilkom. This page is in Turkish of course.

Thanks to Bekir Kemal Ataman. for the information about Turkey. See the link to him on the Related Sites page, he has a web page and runs a BBS there - the only Mac BBS in Turkey that I know of. The numbers for ArchiMac BBS are (Istanbul) 0212-260-6001 and 0212-227-5964. Since Mac users there are few and far between - it seems appropriate to do a little extra for them.

I have not used their services personally, but Martin wrote me and sounded like a reasonable guy.

Also, look at "allbatteries". You have to look around some to find the listing for the Apple models, but they are there. The URL is: allbatteries (incorporating PowerPacks)

I have also never bought anything from them.

US

Or try Prefix Technologies they sell lots of batteries.

Here is a mail order company that sells all kinds of batteries - in case you have a hard time finding one in your local area: Resource 800. I have not bought anything from them myself.

And also Refurb Madness - they sell by mail order as well. Their web page is here: Refurb Madness.

And Radio Shack all over the US - they carry the 3.6 volt lithium and can order the 4.5 volt alkaline. They can be difficult to deal with - the sales folks will (in my experience) deny having anything for Macs.
