Stan Barber's Notes

A group in Phildelphia is working on a small NAP. Would Dave Siegal provide some technical details for this group?

The mobility of this audience appears to be fairly great. How do people keep their contact lists up-to-date? John Hardie keeps the contact list up-to-date. It is a manual process.

The aggregate load appears to be 700-800 Mbps. How much is not represented? John Scudder said that the folks at the MAE/NAPs would not know about private connections.

There is a request that some standard datasets be available for economic studies. Warren said that the raw data set available similiar to what MFS does already. Steve said that he can do it as well. Dave Siegal said it was no problems.

There was another question about contacting folks to arrange peering. It would be great to have a way to do this. Steve Feldman said that there are mailing lists for each of the MAEs. Warren said that PAC*BELL has the same thing.

Is 30%/month growth typical? Steve Feldman said that at MAE-EAST, it is not steady. Growth is in spurts. Warren said that there was a 60% growth in the last month or so, but is not consistent.

What about Ameritech's FDDI Rings? John expects them to go away at some point. Those that are upgrading to OC3c should be able to upgrade from FDDI at some point. Warren said that at PAC-BELL will also wait to kill FDDI when folks have migrated away.

Bill Manning comments that when you get your address from the RA you will get a clue about how to contact others at the NAP. Ask him for the details.
