Notes:
Many end hosts, especially UNIX, depend on receiving RIP updates so they can discover their local router. This is much more robust than a hard-coded default gateway.
In this example, both hosts on the Ethernet should default to the local router. Successive default routes will take traffic to the Internet firewall, which connects to a DS-3 link to the authorized service provider.
Assume, however, that senior management approval is necessary for users to access the Internet through the firewall. Jane has been authorized such access, but John has not.
