Architecture

There is no standard switch. We have a cable mesh. Any points in the facility can be cross-connected. There are public switches available for those that need it. There are also private connections.

Problems

  • IP over Sonet
• Encourage private connections
• How much data goes through the IX?
  • We don't know. We don't measure the private interconnections.
  • The Gigaswitch is handing about 320M/sec

  • This IX was built for content
  • Lots of server farms moved in.
  • So, we are now full.
  • Remote access to NAP?
  • We don't really want to do this.
  • Expansion: New Building (700 new shelves)
  • We will be going International as well as two the east coast

  • Private connections are underutilized.
  • Remote Hands are underutilized.
