Stan Barber's Notes

The MBONE has lots of problems, but people use it. There has been very little in the way of network management tools.

This project will create some generic management tools.

Objective of the project was to create a MIB, put these in mrouted and help facilitate redeployment of these tools, and develop new tools.

Currently, SMUX and SNMP agent has been implemented. The implementation makes use of the ISODE SNMP agent. mrouted 3.5 has been made available.

What's in the MIBs?

IP Multicast Routing MIB [Existed prior to the beginning of this work]
Route Tables (groups, source/mask), Next Hop Table(group, source/mask, next hop) [groups are using in pruning the tree], Interface Table
DVMRP MIB [New with this work]
Virtual Interface Table, Neighbor Table, Route Table (no groups here), Routing Next Hop Table, Boundary Table (will be moved to the MCAST MIB)

Tools are coming -- NVIEW, SNMP agent running in workstations

What about Firewalls? Multicast SNMP may be possible.

IGMP MIB will be in Multicast Kernel. This work should dovetail in the Integrated Services MIB.
