Update from the PIER Working Group

Purpose is to help folks learn how to renumber in a easy fashion.

Renumbering is not a religion.

Renumbering can benefit Internet and ISPs and renumbering provides opportunity.

PIER solicits and organized input from community.
PIER produces documents by the November 1996 IETF.
PIER will create an on-going archive for information on specific vendors and products.
PIER will attempt to identify problems and issues that may need more exploration within and without IETF.

RFC 1916 is the first output from this work. A couple of internet drafts are in the works. There are also other guidelines in the planning stages.

How can you help?

Read the drafts and send comments to pier@isi.edu.

Encourage your vendors to respond.

Encourage your customers to use PIER and contribute.

Steal time to send use your experiences.

Are there any success stories?

There have been some contributions. At least one organization remarked that it was something that just a couple of hours. More is requested.
