Pacific Bell NAP Topology Summary
Pacific Bell NAP Topology Summary
- The SF/Bay Area NAP is currently made up of 3 Stratacom BPX ATM switches, trunked together over SONET rings. Extra funding acquired to add 2 more switches to handle growth.
- Access speeds include DS3 and OC3c.
- Participants connect to the NAP via Wide Area ATM circuits (No colocation is required).
- OC3c was rolled out in the 3rd Quarter. Currently there are 5 connections installed or on order.
- The Interim FDDI Network attached to the BPX in Oakland is still in place, with most participants peering across the ATM or privately. FDDI statistics no longer posted. The FDDI will most likely be decommissioned by the next NANOG.
