
There are two meshes of ATM that make up this network. They are all PVC based. This was done because two years ago, this was all that could run OC-3. Running directly over SONET is being investigated.
MCI has an agreement with NetStar to develop code on the Gigarouter.
Lightstreams are being replaced by Fore ASX-1000.
The Cisco 7000 will be upgrade to 7507.
Vector switches are also being used.
Five static customers for two years. 12 more to be added "soon" and then something like 50 will be next.
There are a number of peers (all Fed).
Communities make it easy to insure that there is no transit use.
NetStar Gigarouters will be the connect point via OC-12 ATM cards.
At Ameritech, there is a plan to upgrade to OC-3. There is also review at NSF to determine if the connection policies need to be changed.
