Stan Barber's Notes

Bill Norton welcomes the group and has no jokes. However, he does have a Story, but no jokes. Everyone is very disappointed, not!

Anyway, this meeting is really NANOG 8. Bill apologizes for his previous error.

This meeting has a full agenda and as such, we may want to consider extending the meeting to two full days.

IENG is having a dessert event at MAIN STREET.

There will also be whirlyball tonight.

At this meeting, there are 400 signed up to attend.

The next one will be in February 1997 in San Francisco and hosted by PAC*BELL.

There has been a drastic increase in attendance from 75 at the first one to a projection of 500 at San Francisco.

Of those attending, the majority of attendess are ISPs. The next largest group is from the hardware providers. The next largest group is software developers. There is also a dramatic increase in folks attending that are unknown. There is a drop-off in the number of University attendess.

This meeting is styled like the previous two, with a STATE OF THE INTERNET design. This will ask each group, NSPs, NAP Operators and so on to comment on their top three problems and what they are doing to address them.

Each attendee is receiving a tee-shirt that was inspired by Bob Metcalf.
