• Steady state - no additional routes for multi-homed
  • no extra overhead due to multi-homed sites in steady state
• Failures - extra routes get injected
  • on average the amount of extra routes injected is likely to be less than the total number of multi-homed sites in the Internet
    • not all multi-homed sites in the Internet lose their connections at the same time
  • Dominant strategy (wrt scaling)
    • better than using provider-independent addresses
    • better than using a single block of addresses from one of the providers
