Craig promises not to mention Solaris again.
The tools being developed are all related to the RA and similiar projects.
Craig solicits feedback from anyone operating a network.
- Route Server Daemon -- RDs
- Supports a number of recent features proposed by folks for BGP (including
- MCI's proposed extensions discussed at the last NANOG)
- Router configuration tool -- RTConfig
- It is currently in use at ANS and CA*NET.
- Currently, generates GateD Configs, will generate Cisco Configs soon.
- Peval -- Policy Evaluator (part of RTConfig)
- It takes RIPE-181 objects and generates GateD configurations and so on.
- DTP -- Develop Template Peering (part of RTConfig)
- RADBserver -- superset of the whoisd server (not yet available)
- performs multiple queries and has multiple indexes.
- performs multiple cross-object queries
- check it out by telnet radb.ra.net 5042 and then type

- rrc2r/rrmerge -- Cisco to RIPE-181 converter
- Converts Cisco configuration files into RIPE-181 AS objects
- Tool currently in alpha. Contact Laraunt for details.
- CiscoBGP
- Analyizes
sho ip bgp from Cisco and compares with the IRR.
- The next release will check the entire AS PATH.
- BGPCheck
- This takes the output directly from a BGP client and does the same thing that
the CiscoBGP.
- RouteFlap
- Modelled on Curtis' work and monitors uptime for different prefixes and can generate
a route flap report.
- IRRWeb -- Web interface to IRR
- Does point-and-click queries and updates.
- Currently, the only check is a reverse lookup check.
- They are thinking about using a commercial server. The NetSite Server might
be available for free to Merit.

- MRS -- Multi-threaded route server
- Reads GateD, speaks RIPE-181 and will evetually speak RPL
- Distributed Rovers
- Evolution of the NSFnet Rover
- CiderAssistant

- XPolicy -- Policy Visualization package
- GUI representation on how routes should "look".... interacts with prtraceroute

XTopology -- Real-Time routing visualization package
- Like XPolicy, but uses the real time information -- Currently uses BGP only.
- OSPF and others to come.
- Cisco/GateD GUI Config Generation --
- Front-end to peval and RTConfig
- Point-and-Click to build these configuration files
- What-if Engine
- It's a Virtual database though which you can model what happens if you make certain
changes in routing policy.
